tra la la

When you are at karaoke, what is your angle?

To sing a song that you think you will sound really good at?

To sing a song that totally and perfectly fits the evening?

To sing a song that the crowd will surely rock out to?

To sing a song that you love despite any hope of a talented effect?

To sing a song that you think will have a secret message for someone in the room? A Little fun twist of a lyric perhaps?

Tell me what you think!

I try to sing something that'll minimize my chance of embarrassing myself, although I usually abandon that notion after a beer or two. I avoid slow songs because nothing brings the room down faster. I like the secret message idea.

Kind of off-topic but do you know of anyone who has tried the karaoke games for PS2? Curious whether they're any good.

I have only ever done Karaoke 3 times. First time, in Cincinnati Ohio to The Beach Boys "Don't Worry Baby". The second time, at a bowling alley for Karen's work X-mas party; The Monkees "Steppin' Stone". Finally, in one of the Florida Keys (who can remember them all and why would you keep track anyways?) at the motel tiki bar; The Lemon Pipers "Green Tambourine" (where I got a standing Ovation and a 'Honorary Local' mantle placed on me for the remainder of the time we stayed there). For me, I WILL ONLY sing Karaoke after sufficient brain-lubricant and only if the person running it has a song I like. I think that is the overriding theme, it has to be a song I like.

Sgt Howie--its all about the beers, for sure. And the secret messages. I dont know anyone so far wo has tried those games but now I want them!!! and guitar heroes, of course.

Wedgehead--i love that you remember all the moments! Now I dont feel like such a freak-n-geek! Or maybe more so! It sounds like you went to some places with really cool songs and thats so kick ass. I am extra horrible at singing songs with a male singer but damn does that cut down the choices!!! I have written down steppin stone several times and then smashed up my slip--cuz its so good but i didnt want to destroy it with my screechings...guess i shoulda had another beer and went for it :)
